Rationale for Change
This is a flyer for a yard sale a local elementary school has every year as a way to raise funds for an upcoming field trip. The flyer was sent out to all employees of Georgetown County Schools a few weeks, and again a few days, before the actual event. Upon receiving the email the first time, I immediately began to look over the visual details of the flyer, such as word/paragraph alignment, location, pictures, etc. I found myself deciding on ways that I would change the flyer to maybe make it a little more visually appealing.
For this assignment, I made changes to the flyer that I feel made it a little more visually appealing and told exactly what the event was. The first thing I did was to change the first title from "Gigantic" alone to "Gigantic Yard Sale" so the people looking at the flyer knew exactly what the flyer was promoting. The second change I made was to align the word elements on the left and right sides of the page in such a way as the right side does not look so much heavier than the left. I raised it up level with the title of the left to even out the look. I then lowered the middle image so that it sat more between the word elements on each side. Lastly, I removed the school bus image that was at the bottom. To me, it looked out of place and made the flyer as a whole look cluttered.
