Visualization - Before and After
Rationale
This information was shared with the District Teachers of the Year at a recent professional development session in Columbia. I was shocked at the numbers and vowed to share the information with the groups of pre-service teachers I speak to regularly. I started out sharing the before image with the groups as a slide in a presentation I developed. However, I wasn't getting the reaction from it that I had hoped for. I saw this Before and After as the perfect opportunity to revamp my presentation before I went and presented at the Teaching Fellows Sophomore Conference and at another event upcoming. The simple change from the actual excerpt of the survey to the After Image really got the attention of those I was speaking to. Seeing the 66% as a huge number that drew your attention really made an impact.
